분명, 내 눈은 당신을 사랑하지 않는다

눈은 당신에게서 천 가지의 허물을 보기 때문이다

당신을 사랑하는 것은 가슴이다

눈으로 빤히 그 경멸스러움을 보면서도 홀딱 빠져있구나

내 귀도 당신의 혀가 내는 소리를 즐기지 않고

내 피부도 그런 거친 애무에 빠져들지 않으며

내 혀도, 내 코도, 당신만이 메인 코스인

육체적 향연에 초대받길 원하지 않는다 

그러나 내 지성도 내 오감도 당신의 종이 되겠다는

이 바보같은 가슴 하나 단념시킬 수 없으니

내 가슴이 당신의 노예, 당신의 천한 시종이 되는 동안

내 몸은 주인없이 껍데기만 남은 몸이 되었구나

그러나 나는 이 고통을 내 이득으로 여기리다

그건 사랑이라는 죄를 범한 내게 그녀가 주는 보상이니까

In faith, I do not love thee with mine eyes,

For they in thee a thousand errors note;

But ’tis my heart that loves what they despise,

Who in despite of view is pleased to dote.

Nor are mine ears with thy tongue’s tune delighted,

Nor tender feeling to base touches prone,
