사랑 속에서 우리는 나뉠 수 없는 하나일지라도

고백컨데 둘은 어쩔 수 없이 둘일지니

내게 남아 있는 오점은 오직

당신 도움 없이 나 혼자 감내해야 할 것이로다

우리 둘의 사랑은 같은 곳을 바라보나

고통스런 삶은 우리를 갈라놓으려 하니

그것이 사랑의 고유한 기쁨은 어찌하지 못해도

서로가 함께하는 행복한 시간을 훔쳐가는구나

어쩌면 난 당신을 다시는 아는 체 할 수 없으리라

한스런 내 죄가 당신을 욕 되게 해서는 안 되니

당신도 내게 공공연히 친절을 베풀지 말지니

그렇지 않으면 당신의 명예가 더럽혀지리라

그러니 그러지 마오. 내 사랑은 그토록 깊어

당신이 나이고, 당신의 명예가 내 명예이니

Let me confess that we two must be twain,

Although our undivided loves are one.

So shall those blots that do with me remain

Without thy help by me be borne alone.

In our two loves there is but one respect,

Though in our lives a separable spite,

Which, though it alter not love’s sole effect,
