당신을 여름날과 견주어보면 어떨까?

당신이 더 사랑스럽고 더 화창할 것이다

거친 바람이 5월의 고운 꽃봉오리를 흔드는데

여름에 임대된 기한은 너무나 짧구나

때로 하늘의 눈은 너무 뜨겁게 빛나고

그의 황금빛 얼굴에는 종종 그늘이 진다

모든 아름다움은 언젠가 쇠퇴하나니

우연이나 자연의 변화가 그 아름다움을 벗겨내는구나

그러나 내 영원한 시구 속에서 시간과 하나 된다면

당신의 영원한 여름은 바래지 않고

당신이 지닌 아름다움도 잃지 않을 것이니

죽음도 뽐내지 못하리라, 당신이 자기 그늘 속에서 방황한다고 

인간이 살아 숨쉬고 눈으로 불 수 있는 한

이 시는 살아 당신에게 생명을 줄 것이다 

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate.

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

And summer’s lease hath all too short a date.

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,

And often is his gold complexion dimmed;

And every fair from fair sometime declines,

By chance or nature’s changing course untrimmed.

But thy eternal summer shall not fade,

Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st,

Nor shall death brag thou wand’rest in his shade,

When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st.

  So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,

  So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
