당신이 나와의 신의를 어겨

나를 하찮게 여기고 내 품성을 경멸할지라도

나는 당신 편을 들고 나 자신과 싸워

당신의 미덕을 드높이리다

나는 그 누구보다 내 결점을 잘 알고 있으니

내가 지녔으나 숨기고 있던 잘못을

당신을 위해 증언하고 나면 나를 버리길 잘했다고 

사람들이 당신에게 박수를 보내리다

이것은 내게도 이득이 될 터이니

내 모든 사랑은 당신에게 기우는지라

내가 나에게 가하는 상처가 당신에게 이득이 되면

그건 내게도 갑절의 이득이도다

내 사랑이 이와 같고, 나는 당신의 것인지라

당신의 결백을 위해 나는 어떠한 비난도 견디리다

When thou shalt be disposed to set me light

And place my merit in the eye of scorn,

Upon thy side against myself I’ll fight,

And prove thee virtuous, though thou art forsworn.

With mine own weakness being best acquainted,

Upon thy part I can set down a story

Of faults concealed, wherein I am attainted,

That thou in losing me shalt win much glory.

And I by this will be a gainer too,

For bending all my loving thoughts on thee,

The injuries that to myself I do,

Doing thee vantage, double vantage me.

  Such is my love, to thee I so belong,

  That for thy right myself will bear all wrong.
